Star
BFI/Allied Waste Services strives to provide seamless trash and recycling services to Star residents.
Garbage Collection Guidelines
Residential solid waste service is voluntary in the City of Star. Garbage is collected once a week with no limit on
the number of carts, cans or bags you may set out.
Use the
Right Container
All trash must be in containers or bags to
keep odors in and animals out. A
closed container will prevent tampering by pets, minimize odors, and block rainwater.
Trash cans with lids
Plastic garbage bags, tightly
closed
Please do not set trash out in paper grocery bags or cardboard boxes - these make a big mess if the bottoms fall out.
Limit Size
and Weight of Containers
For driver safety, container sizes must be between 20 and 35 gallons and can be
no heavier than 60 pounds.
BFI/Allied Waste Services provided wheeled carts are
limited to 64 or 95 gallons.
Collection Requirements
Trash and recycling must
be set out by 7:00 am.
All containers and recycling
bins must be removed from the curbside within 24 hours.
No
hazardous materials, fluorescent light tubes, paint
or vehicle batteries are collected curbside. See information
included in this website for proper disposal of household hazardous
materials.
Make sure drivers have safe
and convenient access to containers.
Do
not set trash containers close to obstructions such as mailboxes, fire
hydrants, parked cars, or utility poles.
Do not block sidewalks with
cans or bags.
Do not overload containers or
pack them so tightly that trash are difficult to remove.
Wheeled carts should be
placed at the curb line with lid hinges pointing away from the street.
Blue Bin Recycling Guidelines
Recycling is collected by a separate truck on
the same day as garbage. To receive a blue recycling bin, call
BFI/Allied Waste Services at 345-1265.
